article continues below

Friday, February 21 game recap

If the game plan for Killarney was to physically intimate Hartney, it certainly backfired last night. The penalties for Killarney in game three of the series started early, the first one at 57 seconds for boarding and they never let up.

The Shamrocks amassed 52 minutes in penalties and the Blues made them pay as they scored four power play goals on their way to a comfortable 5-1 road victory.

The Shamrocks still lead the best of five series 2-1.

Killarney actually opened the scoring at 5:24 of the first on a goal by Reid Opperman. But that was all from the Shamrocks as Hartney then scored the next five goals, two each by Jordan Roper and Jesse Linner and a lone goal by teammate Del Cowan.

For Killarney, the penalty box leaders were Morgan Magwood with 18 minutes followed by Colton Magwood with 14.

Killarney leads the best of five series 2-1.

Next game in the series is Monday night, February 24 in Hartney at 8pm. If necessary, game five will be played in Killarney on February 25.
