All series are a best of five
Semi final #2 - Killarney Shamrocks vs Hartney Blues
(Killarney leads series 2 game to 0)
Thursday, February 20th game recap
The first period of last night’s game was a special teams nightmare for the Hartney Blues, who were trying to even up the series.
Killarney wasted no time in asserting its dominance scoring four unanswered goals in the first, one short handed and three power play markers, to take a commanding 4-0 lead after the opening period on their way to a 5-2 win.
Sutton Olson opened the scoring shorthand at 5:26, followed by power play goals by Brandon Switzer (9:10), Morgan Magwood (13:47), and Aubrey Chapman (16:19) - all in the first period.
And that was pretty much game over.
Hartney scored twice in the second on goals by Jesse Linner and Jordan Roper to get within two, 4-2 but that was as close as they would come.
Killarney’s Jesse Bernard scored late in the third to make the final score 5-2.
Killarney now has a commanding 2-0 lead in the best of five Western Division semi final.
Killarney can close out the series tonight, February 21 at home. Puck drop is 8pm. Winner of this series faces the Boissevain Border Kings in the Western Division final.
