The awaited Souris Hotel has opened for business and according to manager Darlene Janssen, the rooms were fully booked on the weekend. “It was a busy weekend for us as we are still working out the kinks,” she stated when she stopped at the Plaindealer to purchase a subscription for the hotel. “We are excited to move forward with this and look forward to showing everyone around.”
Janssen says many people have been stopping in at the Hotel to offer their congratulations and ask for a little tour. “We are so happy with our Hotel and are pleased to share that excitement with people who stop in,” she said. “We’ve set up a few times when we’ll be free to do that because we don’t want to disappoint anyone but there are times when we can’t get away from the desk.”
Janssen says that if people want to stop in and have a tour they can do so between 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. or between 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. There will be a formal grand opening but she is still planning that event.
Situated in the heart of Souris, the Souris Hotel has 29 rooms and attached to an 18 Suite Active Adult living complex.
The Souris Hotel is close to all the amenities in the community, a “walk anywhere” location that has a variety of rooms available for rent. The brand new rooms are numerous enough to allow for many different types of events, that in the past had to go elsewhere, to occur here. People looking for a weekend away will have a spot to stay while they take in the local attractions such as the Swinging Bridage, the variety of museums, the Rock Shop and of course stroll with the famous peacocks. They also have a unique “To Have and to Hold” wedding package available. Check out their website for all the information and details, the sourishotel.ca
