The Souris Glenwood Fire Department (SGFD) was reviewing the replacement of their Command/Rescue vehicle due to the age and use of the vehicle. After extensive review and consideration, the SGFD members decided to complete minor required upgrades to the existing unit due to replacement costs of purchasing a new rescue being in excess of $250,000.
The SGFD reviewed our fleet and decided to investigate purchasing a Quick Response Vehicle (QVR). After discussions with members and the RM of Glenwood Council, it was approved to purchase a 1-ton quad cab truck. This truck will complement the existing fleet of vehicles SGFD currently has and will meet many needs. The truck will be first response to all calls to complete scene size up and will be utilized for traffic control, scene management, personnel carrier, hauling equipment and any other task required.
The purchase of this vehicle and all associated accessories was completed using reserve funding and donations. The donation from Western Financial Group of $2552.25 was used towards this purchase and we greatly appreciate their on-going support through the years.
SGFD is extremely fortunate with the relationship that we have with Souris Glenwood council as well as the continual donations that we receive from community members as well as businesses. We are continually upgrading equipment to stay current with our skills and services we provide to our community and in turn are always grateful for donations that enable us to do this. The SGFD does numerous fundraising events throughout the year and each event is greatly supported by the community.
