Paving Crescent Avenue

Long overdue, Crescent Avenue business people rejoice

The long-awaited paving of Crescent Avenue is finally occurring. Weather delays have resulted in a months long delay for completion and street reopening.  Currently the paving crew is on site and will be placing asphalt starting Tuesday, October 22. According to local representative, they will only be laying a first lift of pavement. The final lift and finishes will be completed in the spring of 2020

The plan, according to a Souris Glenwood Chamber of Commerce press release stated that the idea is to have Crescent Avenue open for vehicle traffic by end of day Friday, October 25.

Because the final lift is not being placed at this time there are items (ie: manholes) to work around and adjustments to be made before the street can be open for traffic, the Municipality is asking people to please not move any barriers or drive on this surface prior opening of the street by the contractors, as this may cause damages and will delay the opening.

“If there are any changes to this schedule an email will be released when further information is received from the contractor.,” explained Souris Glenwood CAO Charlotte Parham. “ We understand this has been a frustrating time for everyone and look forward to the completion of this project.”

Local business people who are located on the Crescent have reported losses due to the months long closer of the street.
