Souris-Glenwood Foundation Chairman Darryl Jackson presented 13 awards to deserving community organizations at the Souris Arts Council concert, held at the Souris Community Hall on December 15.
Recipients included Bunclody Willing Workers, Souris Glenwood Agricultural Society, Glenwood-Souris regional Library, Hillcrest Museum, Senior’s Organized Services, Souris School, Souris-Glenwood Golf Course Inc., Souris Elks Lodge, Souris Arts Council, Victoria Park Lodge, Souris Minor Hockey, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, and the Souris Health Auxiliary.
In total, the grants were $18,750.00.
Grant Recipients for 2019:
Bunclody Willing Workers: Refurbish plaques at Bunclody Park - $500.00
Souris & Glenwood Ag Society: Upgrade the fairground’s riding arena - $2000.00
Glenwood & Souris Regional Library: Professional signage for shelves/aisles - $750.00
Souris Hillcrest Museum: Repair roof - $1500.00
Seniors Organized Services (SOS): Compiling a Senior safety guide/info book - $1000.00
Souris School Library: Interactive books & activities - $1000.00
Souris & Glenwood Golf Course: Upgrade clubhouse to 2020 safety standard - $2000.00
Souris BPO Elks Lodge #21: Renovation of Community Hall washroom - $2000.00
Souris District Arts Council - Humidifier for piano at Avalon Theatre - $500.00
Victoria Park Lodge: New flooring (dining hall, hallways, etc) - $2000.00
Souris Minor Hockey Breakfast Club: Early breakfast program - $500.00

Donations received by the Souris Glenwood Foundation are pooled and permanently invested. The capital is never spent. The interest earned is granted annually to worthy community projects. “Your gift goes on giving forever in our community.”
