On April 11, the Souris District Arts Council will be bringing the exciting group, CASATI, to the Avalon Theatre as their last concert of the season. CASATI, a trio from Winnipeg, presents a unique blend of folk and jazz music. Their songs are about love found or lost, cautionary tales of time slipping away and even a whimsical tune about bicycle rides. They began as the Grace Hrabi trio arranging jazz standards and dabbling in songwriting. As the band made collaborating on original music their priority, CASATI found its own voice with lush three part harmonies and rich textures created with ukulele, guitar, double bass and sometimes a hurdy-gurdy. The band tells stories to set the tone of the songs, engaging the audience before a single note has been played. CASATI’S songs cover a wide range of emotions, from realizations that took years to put into words to moments of pure happiness and humour, painting a complete picture of life. Mark the date on your calendar and come out to enjoy the talent this group has. See the details for this concert in the Classified Ad section of this newspaper.
