70 year old motorcycle passenger pronounced deceased.

On June 26th, 2019 at 10:48 pm Blue Hills RCMP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a car and a three wheeled motorcycle.  The collision occurred near the intersection of Provincial Highway #2 and Road 120W, 5 kilometres east of Souris.  Souris Fire attended along with Souris and Brandon Ambulances.  Blue Hills RCMP attended along with a Traffic Analyst.
It was determined that a 78 year old male driver from Souris -Glenwood and lone occupant driving east bound in a 2005 white 4 door Cadillac Deville slowed to make a left hand turn into a private driveway.  Witnesses state he moved into the oncoming west bound lane prior to the private driveway possibly to allow a vehicle behind him to pass by.  A westbound  three wheeled motorcycle that was being driven by a 71 year old male Souris resident and had a 70 year old female passenger collided with the front driver's side tire and went off the road and into the westbound ditch.
The driver and passenger of the motorcycle were both transported to Souris hospital where the 70 year old motorcycle passenger was pronounced deceased.
STARS attended the Souris airport where the male driver of the motorcycle was transported to the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg with unknown serious injuries.
The driver of the car was not injured.
Alcohol was not a factor in the collision.  It was determined that the 78 year old Cadillac driver was not wearing a seat belt and this collision can be contributed to driver error.
The matter is still under investigation.
