With Manitoba’s 150th anniversary coming up this spring, the Manitoba 150 Host Committee is reminding Manitobans about two upcoming submission deadlines for Celebrate 150 and Honour 150.
The Celebrate 150 program invites non-profit organizations, municipalities and First Nations from across the province to complete and submit their applications by November 12 for funding of one-time, event-based initiatives. Celebrate 150 will support events such as concerts, art shows, and food festivals that focus on at least one of the following:
· Discovering our Beauty – Highlighting Manitoba at the centre of Canada - its heart, and its natural beauty connecting the country.
· Meeting our People - Bringing Manitobans together to celebrate, reuniting old friends and making new ones.
· Experiencing our Culture - Sharing and celebrating the diversity of our province, engaging communities, learning about our roots and what unites us all. Sport, art, song, dance, food, and cultural festivals.
· Exploring our History - Reflecting on the people and stories of the territory that is now called Manitoba.
Grants range from $10,000 to $70,000 and will cover up to 70 per cent of an event’s total cost. The application deadline is November 12, 2019.
The Honour 150 program invites nominations of Manitobans who give back to the community and enrich the places, in which we live, work, play, and come together in unity. Honour 150 is looking for inspiring Manitobans who hide in plain sight, who often goes without recognition, or who shift our thinking in the subtlest or noisiest of ways. Nominate the person in your life who motivates you to be a better Manitoban. The deadline for nominations is January 31, 2019.
